Fit requirements
Is your cargo van a fit?
- Cargo van or high-roof van with clean, empty cargo area; 2,500 lb+ payload preferred
- Active USDOT/MC (own-authority program) or apply to the ALBERJO Authority Program
- Insurance that meets broker requirements (typically $100k cargo, $1M auto liability; confirm with your agent)
- E-track, straps and blankets; a pallet jack is a plus
- Willingness to run team or extended hours for expedite when it pays

Cargo Van dispatch questions
Do I need a CDL to run cargo van loads?
No. Cargo vans are under 10,001 lbs GVWR in most configurations, so no CDL is required. You do need operating authority or an approved carrier program, insurance that brokers will accept, and a van that passes a visual inspection at pickup.
Is a dispatch service better than a load board for a cargo van?
A load board is a source; a dispatcher works the sources for you while you are driving, negotiates, handles the packet and the paperwork, and follows up on payment. Expedite freight also moves through private bids that never appear on a board. If you have time to sit and refresh boards and call brokers all day, you may not need us. If you would rather drive, that is what the 10% pays for.
How long are typical cargo van runs?
It varies widely: same-city courier moves, 200 to 600 mile regional expedite, and cross-country team runs all exist. Your dispatcher plans around your home market, how far you want to go and when you want to be home.
Can a brand-new authority get cargo van loads?
Some brokers require authority to be 30 to 90 days old; others do not. We know which expedite sources will work with a new authority and set your packets up accordingly. If you do not have authority yet, you may apply to the ALBERJO Authority Program.
